Rt. 92 east of Council Bluffs, Iowa

We are planning on pulling our fifth wheel from Omaha, NE to Winterset, Iowa. How is Rt. 92 east in SW Iowa? Is 34 better?
Any low clearances? Any flooding is this area?
Thanks.

We will be heading north from Topeka to a campground in Waco, nebraska tomorrow. We will be pulling our fifth wheel. We are
going to take 75 north to Nebraska City, then 2 west or 34 west to Lincoln. How is this route? Any suggestions. It is very windy here at this time. Thanks for the help.
the campground is the Double Nickle campground, just off I-80, 40 miles west of Lincoln.

RE: Good overnight spot on I 10

Hi Sizzy,
We are fulltimers from Largo, Fl
We have stayed at the KOA in Milton. Easy in and out for an overnight but pricey. Florida caverns is nice, too but a little bit of a drive from I-10 for one night. Last year we stayed at a campground called Beaver lake in Quincy. it was a passport america park. It was just a grassy field with hook ups but the price was right for a quick overnight and it was right off I-10. Hope this helps!

Strange things people do

We were camping this weekend at a lake near Oklahoma City. We had a pull thru on the lake. Our neighbor had a travel trailer in the adjacent pull thru. He had several friends visiting and also a boat and trailer. The same cars had been there the whole time. a truck and boat trailer, the camper and 3 small cars. This was a long pull thru adjacent to the lake. When we got up sunday morning, I noticed the camper and truck and trailer was gone, but the 3 small cars were still on the site. Later a police officer (this is a city park) came by and asked us if we knew who owned the cars. I said they had been there all weekend and I assume they are out on the lake in the boat.
well, it turns out that the guy who had paid for the site and had the camper checked out in the morning and they gave the site to another party that were tent campers but had cars and friends that were visiting. they were parked all over the place because they set up on the site but they could only use part of the site. It turns out around 8:30 p.m. the truck and boat pulls up full of people coming back to claim their cars and leave. they had tickets on their cars. they blocked the road for several minutes while they unloaded the boat! Holiday campers! You never know what you will see on a holiday weekend!

RE: Sold My 5th Wheel today, Diesel to High and Truck is next

Just a little feedback from us. We are fulltimers. When we tow, we slow down to 55-60 mph. Check tire pressure lots, use Howes additive and we get 13.5-15 mpg. Have a 2000 F250 7.3 and tow cardinal at a weight of 12,500. We do not carry excess baggage just what we need.
We have gotten rid of all excess weight by buying lt weight HD tvs and getting rid of old heavy analogs. We never carry water in fresh tank. We don't go out to eat much and never go to movies, concerts etc. We are able to live on 1000-1250 per month. We stay in parks longer and also save by paying weekly or monthly rates.
Friends we love the lifestyle and refuse to be held hostage by middle east terrorists. WE WILL BE RUNNING ONLY BIO- HOME GROWN USA FUEL WHEN WE CAN GET IT IN EVERY STATE.

RE: GAS Prices!!! I sold my rig, my F-250 is next

in response to Eubanks comment. I would think that you shouldn't compare the cost of staying in a hotel occasionally to the cost and upkeep of a fifth wheel and truck. RVing is expensive, we all know that. I surely understand his reasons for giving it up. I wish his family well.

We are looking for a place to camp in northern Oklahoma or Southern KS, not too far from I-35. Any suggestions? We have a 35' fifth wheel. A private park or state park.

RE: Destiny Dallas RV Resort

Yes, we visit family in the Denton area and it seems to be the only one convenient with full hook ups. The park is well kept by the grounds staff. It just frustrates us that you cannot reserve a site away from the interstate noise and also that so many of the permanent residents have premium sites. Oh well, I guess they have plenty of business so they can afford to lose a customer or two. We are still here at the park now and the wind is brutal today.
Thanks for all your comments. We might try Hickory Creek COE park next year and forego sewer hook up.

RE: St. George Island S.P. Florida

We camped there in a pop up several years ago. The campground is at the far end of the barrier island over a long bridge from the mainland. remote, peaceful, beautiful beach. Beach not real close to campground because of dunes and trees etc. The beach is isolated from the rest of the island. buy food and supplies before you go over the bridge. a few eating places on island but not many. We liked it because it is peaceful and remote. campground is big rig friendly, also. We didn't have cell service in campground.long road to bike ride on, too.

Destiny Dallas RV Resort

We are currently staying here for the second time. When we checked in we were given a site in the front of the park right next to the interstate. Very noisy and windy. We are planning on being here for a month. The park has many pull thru shady spots but we were told nothing else was available. when we protested about being put out front we were told take it or leave it. There are several empty spots throughout the park. This park is occupied with mostly permanent residents and many keep their sites very cluttered. The park itself is neat and well kept. We are dissappointed by the staff at the front desk and the feel of the park. It is not a resort by any means. next time we will find somewhere else to stay.
